INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY TO
CONSUMER PRODUCT

(IP TO CP)

I played a key role in establishing the Intellectual Property to Consumer Products (IP-to-CP) initiative within Nickelodeon's Consumer Products creative toy team. This program was designed to explore the early stages of emerging content and identify ways to maximize consumer product opportunities from the outset.

We developed a system that offered ideas and strategic suggestions to support a wide range of CP opportunities while respecting and preserving the show creator's original vision. This approach ensured product lines were creatively aligned with the content, fostering synergy between the on-screen experience and the consumer products.

PROCESS

The Consumer Products (CP) Toy team begins by receiving content downloads from the show production and creators, giving them insights into the show's themes, characters, and storyline. Using this information, the Toy team conducts a thorough analysis to identify potential product opportunities. They then develop a Toy Exploratory — a comprehensive presentation of concepts, ideas, and strategies — which is shared with the show creator. This collaborative approach ensures that the toys align with the show’s vision while maximizing consumer product potential.
